At DL Miller Woodworking, we are conscious about our natural resources and know the toll that can be placed on them.  Because of this, we do our very best to make environmentally friendly choices daily.  When it comes down to it there is one thing that sets us apart from all others, our dedication to Health & Sustainability.  We are committed to doing our part to protect the planet.  We will continue to evolve and develp new and innovative products and techniques that are responsible choices for the many generations.

Health

Interior of cabinets, whenever possible, are finished with UV finishes, greatly reducing volatile organic compounds (VOCs) and Hazardous air pollutants (HAPs) in your home.

Exterior of cabinets are finished with high solids, catalyzed conversion varnish finish, again greatly reducing VOCs and HAPs.  Having far lower numbers than others in their class.

Finishes have very good wear, heat, stain, and moisture resistance (Feel free to stop in and see our test results) which increases cabinet life and decreasing the likelihood of needing fefinishing, thereby reducing your exposure to HAPs and VOCs in the future.

Sustainability

All our sheet good materials are California Air Regulation Board (CARB) Certified.  The hardwoods we use are grown to Sustainable Forestry Initiative (SFI) standardsfor proper forestry harvesting assuring that trees will be here for our children, grandchildren, and all the children to come.

The finishes we use greatly lower VOCs and HAPs.

The solvents we use to clean our equipment have no HAPs, reduction hazardous emissions.

We heat our shop using scrap materials, eliminating waste in landfills and the use of fossil fuels for heat.
